KIMBALL PINES

Located off of Michigan Avenue, behind the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility in Emmett Township.

Planted in the 1930's and 1940's, Kimball Pines County Park is 100 acres of mostly plantation pines.  Plantation pines are trees that have been planted closely in rows that run both north/south and east/west with the intention that some trees will be removed.  Kimball Pines is one of the oldest stands of urban pines in Michigan.

Formerly known as Kimball Sanitarium, Kimball Pines was purchased in the 1960's and became part of the Calhoun County park system

Kimball Pines offers scenic areas, hiking trails, picnicking facilities, cross-country skiing, and nature observation.  Several trailways wind throughout the park and interspersed along them are picnic pavilions.  The park also offers a disc golf course.
